OFFLINE ANDROID ORIENTATION
Privacy policy
Eighteen sections describing the exact offline behavior of Aotearoa House Relay.

Responsible entity and scope
Abbeyfield New Zealand Incorporated is identified as the responsible organization for Aotearoa House Relay on Android. This policy covers version 1.0.0 of the installed app and its offline features. It does not govern external organizations, local societies, email providers, device manufacturers or websites.
Intended audience
The app is intended for adults, especially older adults considering independent shared living, adult family members and supporters, visitors, volunteers and community members. It is not directed to children and does not provide a resident, tenant, applicant or care-management service.
Purpose and main functions
The app provides an illustrated offline orientation to the publicly described Abbeyfield shared-living model. It includes national-to-local role explanations, a private/shared cutaway, a dated place-network snapshot, preset reflection prompts, visit preparation, volunteer orientation, a private question queue, an illustrative gallery, sources and this Privacy Center.
Data collected or transmitted
The app does not collect or transmit personal data, contact details, identifiers, device information, usage events, diagnostics, precise or approximate location, photos, audio, documents, financial information or health information. It has no server, Internet permission, account or submission endpoint.
On-device preferences and session state
The app can store only small app-private preferences on the device: identifiers for selected preset questions, the last gallery position and the reduced-motion choice. These values are not free text, are not linked to an identity and never leave the device through the app.
Sensitive, youth and free-text records
The app does not offer free-text notes and does not create applicant files, tenancy records, resident profiles, attendance, incident reports, support plans, medical records, medication records, disability records, dietary records, youth records or emergency contacts. Users should not treat the preset queue as a private case-management system.
Permissions
Version 1.0.0 requests no Internet, location, camera, microphone, contacts, calendar, notifications, nearby-device, phone, health, advertising or shared-storage permission. Android may display platform-generated internal components that do not grant the app access to personal data.
Accounts, login and account deletion
There is no registration, login, password, cloud profile or server account. Account deletion is therefore not applicable. Local preferences can be removed with the in-app Reset control, Android Clear storage or uninstall.
Ads, analytics and software development kits
The app contains no advertising, analytics, attribution, telemetry, crash-reporting, social, map, payment, remote-configuration or remote-AI SDK. It does not use an advertising identifier, fingerprint users or build profiles.
Sharing, disclosure and sale
Because the app does not collect or transmit personal data, it does not sell, rent, share or disclose app data to Abbeyfield houses, local societies, advertisers, data brokers or other third parties. A user may independently choose to discuss remembered questions outside the app.
External links, contact and network behavior
The installed app is designed to remain offline and does not open web pages, send email or submit forms. Source URLs and the privacy contact are shown as reference text only. If a user independently contacts an organization or visits a website, that separate service and its provider control the resulting data.
Retention
Selected preset-question identifiers, gallery position and reduced-motion preference remain in app-private storage until the user resets them, clears Android app storage or uninstalls the app. The app has no remote copy and no server retention period.
Deletion, backup, restore and device transfer
Reset clears all saved app preferences. Clear storage and uninstall also remove local app state. Android cloud backup and device-to-device transfer are disabled for the app, so Aotearoa House Relay does not intentionally restore these preferences to another device.
Security and limitations
Data minimization, app-private storage, no Internet permission and disabled backup reduce exposure. No software or device is perfectly secure. Device access, screenshots, operating-system behavior and independently copied information remain under the user and platform's control.
Children, families and safeguarding
The content is designed for adults and is not a children's service. The app has no chat, public profile, direct messaging, social graph, precise location, upload or targeted advertising. If a child is present during an adult's housing conversation, the responsible adult and relevant organization remain responsible for supervision and safeguarding.
Housing, care, health and safety limitations
The app is general educational orientation, not a vacancy service, eligibility decision, tenancy offer, accessibility assessment, medical or nursing service, diagnosis, treatment, emergency response or professional advice. Abbeyfield publicly states that nursing care is not provided. Confirm individual housing, care, dietary, mobility, financial and safety needs with the relevant local society and appropriately qualified professionals.
Policy changes and user choices
A materially changed data practice requires an updated policy and app release. Users can choose whether to select preset questions, enable reduced motion, browse the gallery or reset local state. The effective date and app version identify this policy edition.
Privacy contact
Questions about this app policy may be directed to Abbeyfield New Zealand Incorporated at office@abbeyfield.org.nz or Level 1, 40 Halifax Street, Nelson 7010, New Zealand. The authorized publisher must confirm control of this contact before publication.
